The University of Jamestown is here to provide our students with the holistic experience. One of the big draws for me to come to the university is how it develops you as a leader. It is really special to be a part of a university that is emphasizing leadership, but more importantly, character-driven leadership.
Character is based on six virtues: courage, wisdom, humility, integrity, service, and excellence. And our foundations as a Christian university is a really big piece of that to be grounded in something that's timeless, to have principle-driven decisions. We really try to focus on doing the right thing and having integrity even when no one is watching.
Our programs at UJ have really helped me to develop who I am, what my philosophy of leadership is, and who I want to be as a person before I get a job. At UJ, we take great pride in preparing our students not just for a future career. And we do that. We also ground that in becoming the kind of person that a future boss would want to hire and would want to keep around.
A lot of what happens here happens outside the classroom. Faculty get to know you; they are your advisor, they help you find internships and jobs at the end. And it's just a sort of family relationship that begins to evolve. I think the difference between all of the schools that I visited and UJ was just like the community feel. It was one big family, super connected and everybody was just here to help you. And I know a lot of people say that, but it truly is just different here than it is at any other university I've been to.
