What I would tell students that are looking to come to the University of Jamestown is come visit campus in person or virtually. You might even see your personal Admissions Counselor at your high school. Or you can go online to our UJ website where you can do the application for free.
As far as the "test optional" policy that we just implemented, is we're more looking at you as a whole, if you have taken it [or] if you haven't, it's not going to be the determining factor of you coming to UJ or you being accepted. We're looking at the whole person, not just a four-hour block.
If you have any questions or need any guidance with your major or anything going on on campus, you will have your very own Admissions Counselor who will be there for every step of the way throughout the process of applying to UJ. It took me 10 minutes to fill out the application online. And then, I all I needed was my high school transcript sent in and then I got a personal phone call from my counselor with my scholarship offer almost a week later.
We'd like to have each of the students come on campus, take a tour, [and] eat at the cafeteria. Can you see yourself being here for the next four years? This is something where we want to make sure that we're getting the right people and you feel comfortable and you're the right fit for us. Also, the ones that do want to come here and do want to be part of this. We want you and obviously we're going to have open arms with you and we're going to build that relationship. Not only student to student but faculty, students, staff to student we're all about the family.
